Artist Spotlight: sombr

About the Artist

Sombr, born Shane Michael Boose, grew up on Manhattan’s Lower East Side and attended the famed LaGuardia High School as a vocal major. He began producing music from his bedroom studio in his teens, writing and recording emotionally-driven indie rock and pop songs.

He adopted the stage name “Sombr” by combining his initials (SMB) and reflecting the “somber” moods of his early songs. He first released his debut single “Nothing Left to Say” in 2021, followed by breakout viral hits like “Caroline” in 2022.

Key Milestones & Releases

2023: Released his debut EP In Another Life, co-produced with Tony Berg.

2025: Gained global breakthrough success with the singles “Back to Friends” and “Undressed”, both charting in the top 20 on the Billboard Global 200 and achieving international impact.

August 2025: Released debut full-length album I Barely Know Her.
Streams: Early songs like “Caroline” have over 40 million streams.
