Mid-Michigan transit agencies offering free rides to food pantries

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — As Mid-Michigan residents brace for the expected loss of SNAP benefits amid the federal government shutdown, all three transit agencies are offering free systemwide rides to local food pantry locations.

You can ride any CATA, EATRAN, or Clinton Transit service to any Greater Lansing Food Bank pantry location for free, as long as you inform the driver when boarding. You will not have to show ID.

CATA Rydz customers can use promo code 2025SNAPRydz through the app to redeem their free rides. Trips on CATA Spec-Tran and Rural Service must be scheduled by 5 p.m. the previous day, and it is recommended you schedule all Redi-Ride trips at least a day in advance. CATA demand-response rides can be arranged by calling 517-394-2282.

EATRAN riders must reserve trips at least one day in advance by no later than 5 p.m. by calling 517-543-4087.

Clinton Transit riders can call 989-224-8127 to schedule a ride at least a day in advance. Scheduling hours are & a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
